A recent study from researchers in Pittsburgh has highlighted a concerning pattern: individuals undergoing weight loss treatments often experience significant nutritional imbalances and micronutrient deficiencies. Participants in the study were found to have insufficient intake of several essential nutrients, including fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, choline, and key vitamins such as A, C, D, and E.
This aligns closely with what our in-house dietitian, Mhairi Kelly, has observed through comprehensive macronutrient and micronutrient assessments of our clients. Many people starting GLP-1 weight loss therapies are unaware of the nutritional gaps that can emerge as appetite decreases and food intake reduces.
Fortunately, with targeted and simple dietary interventions, these imbalances can often be corrected. Many of our clients report a noticeable reduction in side effects and an overall improvement in wellbeing once their nutritional needs are addressed.
For this reason, we strongly recommend that anyone undergoing GLP-1 therapy has a one-to-one consultation with a qualified dietitian and a full dietary assessment. Optimising nutrition isn’t just about safety—it can also support more sustainable, effective weight loss.
