Video consultations

See a weight loss specialist, by video

Every consultation is a live, one-to-one video call with one of our Consultant Endocrinologists — from home, work or wherever suits you, anywhere in the UK.

Nothing is prescribed before you have spoken to a doctor. If treatment is right for you, your prescription goes to the UK pharmacy of your choice.

Check your BMI before you book

BMI is the threshold treatment is licensed against, so it is the quickest way to see whether a consultation is worth booking. The calculator runs in your browser — nothing is stored or sent to us.

Not ready to book? On the same page you can sign up for practical guidance from our consultants by email, with some short videos along the way.

BMI 30 or above

Medical weight management is something our doctors will usually discuss with you.

BMI 27+ with a condition

With a weight-related condition — prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems — treatment may also be appropriate.

Before surgery

If a surgeon or anaesthetist has asked you to lose weight before an operation, or you have been declined treatment because of your weight, we can help you do it safely.

Below 27

Medication is unlikely to be the answer, but our dietitian, clinical psychologist and personal trainer can all be seen at any weight — no BMI check needed.

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. People of Asian, Black African, African-Caribbean and Arab family origin develop type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular complications at lower BMIs. If that applies to you, a number below the threshold does not necessarily mean treatment is inappropriate — it means the assessment matters more.

How it works

From booking to regular reviews

Nothing is decided without you. Our fee covers the doctor’s time — medication is bought separately from the pharmacy you choose, at their price. Fees are payable when you book.

  1. 01

    Book online

Pick a time that suits you and book your 30-minute video consultation — £75, payable when you book. You can move or cancel it yourself at any time.

  2. 02

    Complete your medical questionnaire

Fill it in before the appointment, so your time with the doctor is spent on a real conversation rather than paperwork.

  3. 03

    Join your video consultation

30 minutes, one-to-one, with a Consultant Endocrinologist. It is person-centred: your history, your goals and your questions come first.

  4. 04

    Agree a plan

If medication is safe and suitable, your doctor sends an electronic prescription to the UK pharmacy you choose. If it is not, you will hear why — and what else could help.

  5. 05

    Follow-ups while your dose settles

15-minute video reviews, £75 each, to check how you are getting on and adjust the dose. Between reviews, the AmaraHealth tracking app — included at no extra cost — keeps your food, weight and activity in one place, so each review starts from real data.

  6. 06

Three-monthly reviews on a stable dose

Once your dose is settled, one video review plus two email reviews covers three months for £100. Dietitian, psychology and exercise appointments can be added at any point, booked separately.

In the consultation

What your 30 minutes cover

A real conversation with a specialist, not a form. We do not sell medication, so the advice rests only on what is right for you.

Your history and your goals

We go through your questionnaire together: your health, the medicines you take, what you have tried before and what you want from treatment.

The whole picture, not one number

Weight-related conditions, blood pressure, waist measurement and blood results all matter — two people with the same BMI can carry very different risks.

Options, explained plainly

The evidence-based options that may suit you, how they work, what the side effects can feel like and what happens when treatment stops — without jargon.

A decision you are part of

Medication is only recommended if it is safe and suitable for you. You leave knowing what is advised and why, having asked everything you wanted to.

Getting ready

Before your video call

A device with a camera

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, and a steady internet connection.

Somewhere private

A quiet space where you can talk freely — anywhere private in the UK works.

Your numbers

Your current weight and height, and a waist measurement if you can take one.

Your medicines

A list of the medicines you take, and any recent blood pressure readings or blood test results.

Video consultation FAQs

Questions people ask before booking

All FAQs →
Can I be seen in person?+

No. Our UK service runs entirely by secure video, so you see a Consultant Endocrinologist from wherever suits you, anywhere in the UK, with your prescription sent to the pharmacy you choose.

Do I need a referral from my GP?+

No — you can book directly with us. If you have a GP, we are happy to keep them informed with your consent, and we encourage continuity of care with them.

Will I definitely be prescribed medication?+

No. Suitability is decided in a live consultation with a Consultant Endocrinologist, never by a form alone, and medication is only prescribed if it is safe and suitable for you.

What if medication isn't right for me?+

You will still leave with guidance and practical strategies, and our specialist dietitian, clinical psychologist and personal trainer can all be seen at any weight, with or without a prescription.

What if I have side effects between reviews?+

Tell us — you can raise anything at any review, and suspected side effects can be reported to us and through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

Can I move or cancel my appointment?+

Yes — online at any time through the booking system, or email info@theweightlossmedics.co.uk and we will come back to you.
